Creating a Hyperlink

Use this tool to create hyperlinks and mailto (email) links within your article content. Firstly select the text that you want the hyperlink to apply to and click the hyperlink icon. You will now see this box appear.

Email links should start “mailto:” followed by the email address. Leave the target as “same frame (_self)” and click ok to insert the link.

Links to external web-pages should be inserted in full including the http:// i.e. Http://www.domain.com or http://www.domain.com/pagename.htm Set the target to “same frame (_self)” to open the link within the same browser window or “new empty window (_blank) top open in a new browser window.

We have the ability to include within your website the “live link” functionality. This means that if you refer to an article title within your article content, a hyperlink will automatically be created on the public website. You will not see the hyperlink via the article editor but as long as your text appears exactly the same as another articles title it will link via the public website.

If you want to link to an article within your website, but via alternate text to the article title, then copy and paste the URL of the page from your browser window and paste it into the URL: field of the Hyperlink window.
